Godzilla: King of the Monsters Official Trailer

Legendary Pictures has released the first trailer for the sequel to 2014’s Godzilla, Godzilla: King of the Monsters. While Kaiju fans panned the first film for not showing enough of the titular lizard, that appears to have been largely rectified in the sequel: expect plenty of monster-on-monster action, as at least three other eminent Toho characters can be spotted in this footage alone.

The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species -- thought to be mere myths -- rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.

Godzilla Comes to VR

I seriously want to fly Cobra attack helicopters around and fight Godzilla. I hope they keep the original soundtrack in the game when it comes to retail VR. However, at the moment, you will have to travel to the Osaka VR Zone to get a taste of this.

Godzilla Made Completely Out Of Bugs

This is totally not tech related but I just had to share this with you guys. Since I can't read Japanese, I have no idea what kind of bugs this guy used but the result is pretty damn impressive. Creepy...but impressive.

Godzilla: Resurgence Trailer

I actually thought the 2014 Godzilla film was pretty good, but I understand that plenty of people didn’t and are banking on this Japanese effort to be better. Do you like the classic Godzilla design or this newer one?

Independence Day: Resurgence: Like A High-Budget Porno, Minus Sex And Fun

You’d think that 20 years would have been enough time to come up with a decent script. I didn’t have a problem with the CG like this guy, but I did hate how uninspired and boring most of the story beats were. Even Will Smith and David Arnold couldn’t have saved it.

Many scenes include lousy green-screen staging, revealing cheap-looking real-life sets beneath minimally detailed CGI spaceships on both the human and alien sides. The main giant alien mothership, which pretty much covers half of the Earth, eventually transforms into a slightly more on-fire version of Lost's stupid smoke monster. It's hard to tell what exactly the thing is supposed to do. At one point, an indiscriminate Asian city is attacked in such a way that every building, car, and person starts floating up into the sky. The camera then cuts to Goldblum, who murmurs, "everything that goes up must come down," and then those buildings and cars start falling—but all of the humans are already on the ground, looking up and screaming about what's happening. Huh?

Is Steve Ballmer The Unsung Hero Of Microsoft’s Resurgence?

This editorial argues that Microsoft is still very much what it was under Ballmer’s leadership, despite Satya Nadella’s "recalibrations."

…despite Nadella's eschewing of that mantra and repositioning the company as "mobile first, cloud first," Microsoft still looks a lot like the company Steve Ballmer left behind: bursting with hardware inspiration that’s leading a once reluctant, usually monolithic and boring OEM contingent into a new era. Just look at the improved hybrid hardware from Dell, HP, Lenovo and even Asus. Moreover, Dell and HP have agreed do the unthinkable: resell and support Microsoft Surface in the enterprise. And Apple made the iPad Pro, a conspicuous Surface follower.

Independence Day: Resurgence Official Trailer

Now that's what I call a close encounter.

We always knew they were coming back. After INDEPENDENCE DAY redefined the event movie genre, the next epic chapter delivers global spectacle on an unimaginable scale. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens’ advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction.

VR Godzilla Simulator

I have no idea why this even exists, and it looks to be in the very early stages, but stomping around the city streets as Godzilla would be a great party game. cool

King Kong vs. Godzilla Film Is Happening

It sounds like they’re going all out after 2017’s Kong: Skull Island and pitting the giant ape versus Godzilla himself. But wait—how is that going to be a fair fight, when the lizard is 100 meters tall?

In what would be a pretty epic pairing, the Godzilla sequel that is in the works will be followed by a movie that pits the giant ape versus the giant fire breathing reptile. I’m told this is happening very quickly with moves going all the way to Japan, where Godzilla rights holder Toho is based. Legendary, which moved from Warner Bros to Universal, had developed the Skull Island film at the latter studio.

Is The PC Gaming Resurgence Here To Stay?

Is the PC gaming resurgence here to stay? I didn't know PC gaming was ever in trouble. Did you?

When the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 released in 2005-06, critics and analysts from all over the tech and gaming industry came out to proclaim that they would be the final nails in the PC gaming coffin. At the time, it seemed like they might have had a point. Sales for PC games and hardware were in steady decline since 2001, and longtime champions of PC gaming like Epic Games' Cliff Bleszinski practically declared that the company was putting priority on console development.
