SilverStoneTek is a company best known for its high quality cases but its product lines extend into other components such as cooling, power, fans, storage, and so on. As a company Silverstone has built up this impressive product repertoire in a very short time having been founded in 2003. Today, however we are interested in its power supplies which are comprised of the Strider, Decathlon, Element, Nightjar, Zeus, Gemini, and Olympia model lines that range from 350W to 1500W DC output. Today, we are looking at the largest capacity fanless unit from SilverStone's Nightjar series, the Nightjar 500W (SST-ST50NF) which comes from Seventeam.
What exactly is a "Nightjar?" While there is more to it than this, the Wiki page opens with an interesting statement.

Seventeam Electronics Company is a company that has flown under the consumer power supply radar for some time in the US even though it has been making power supplies for close to 20 years. This is for good reason as a quick search of its website shows a large number of server oriented offerings that would not be noticed by most enthusiast consumers. This product structuring has changed a bit over the last few years as we have seen a number of Seventeam based power supplies in the US consumer market from Ultra and SilverStone as well Cooler Master. Additionally, Seventeam does maintain a limited distribution of its units under its own name in the US as well.
The SilverStone ST50NF is the first power supply we have seen from SilverStone’s fanless Nighjar line to date. However, it is the 3rd fanless unit we have seen overall. Previous SilverStone units we have reviewed have generally been very good products and, to date, the fanless options from other vendors we have reviewed have been top notch. As such, if things continue along the lines of these trends we have been seeing, SilverStone should have a rocking power supply on its hands with this Nightjar unit. Before we get ahead of ourselves though, let’s see what SilverStone has to say about this Nightjar unit:
The fanless Nightjar series power supplies are long favorites for professionals and enthusiasts alike that require noiseless power solution with no moving parts. With increasing power demands required from modern computers, SilverStone engineers have once again created another fanless power supply with leading output level in the ST50NF. With 500W of continuous rating, near 80 PLUS Silver efficiency, آ±3% voltage regulation, single +12V rail, multiple PCI-E connectors, and full host of safety features, the ST50NF is a great choice for mission-critical systems that need to operate in noiseless or dusty environments.
Moving on let’s see what we can expect when a user purchases the SilverStone ST50NF at retail in terms of documentation, accessories, cable count, rail layout, output characteristics, and general build quality.
