ABS has a long history in the do-it-yourself computer components market. ABS was the company that spawned the creation of Newegg. ABS has had its own computer power supply line for some time, but overall the products have been weak. Is the latest ABS Majesty true royalty at 1100 watts, or another PSU court jester?

Today we look at another new product that is being certified by a company familiar to many HardOCP readers, ABS Computer Technologies, Inc the former parent company (now subsidiary) of Newegg. ABS as a company has been a system integrator since 1991. (Now defunct [H]Consumer covered a few of its fully built computer systems.) and it later branched out into parts e-tail through Newegg. Today though we are looking at our first ABS branded power supply in quite some time with the Majesty 1100W (MJ1100-M), and in that interim it seems ABS has dropped Tagan as their OEM provider and instead has picked up ATNG.

ATNG Power Co. LTD (I Horng Power Co. LTD.) is one of the larger providers of power supplies in various markets including the US and is fairly well known to many users. As a company ATNG has been in business since 1987 and currently has a production capacity of ~900,000 units a month. ATNG branded power supplies can be found under other brands such as Rosewill, older BFGTech models, Coolmax,, the ATNG brand itself, and others. Typically ATNG power supplies have not been what most users have considered to be a premier product offering but with the increased competition in the power supply market of late ATNG has released a number of new products that are of great interest to us including today’s ABS branded unit.

A King in the Making?

The ABS Majesty 1100W marks the first time we are seeing a power supply branded by ABS that is not from Tagan/Topower. This particular unit also happens to fall into the middle ground of previous ABS branded units we have reviewed when we look at their DC output capacity. Certainly, our previous experiences with ABS in regards to branded power supplies have not quite been as good as we had hoped they would be, but today is a new day. With a new lineup of power supplies, a new OEM, and a fresh start we could be looking at a coronation service in the making. First, let's take a look at how ABS is positioning these units and what they expect from them.

The Majesty series MJ1100-M 1100W high performance power supply is an outstanding marriage of power and innovation. Its single strong 12V design is great idea for gaming systems. This power supply comes equipped with over voltage, over temperature and over current protection, and a unique active Power Factor Correction (PFC) provides clean and reliable power to your system. The 1 x 135mm Dual-ball-bearing fan with Auto Fan Speed Control provides better silence

The Majesty is tested to achieve over 87% efficiency. Its six 6+2pin PCI-E 2.0 and twelve 5-Pin SATA connectors provides for more than enough output for any current configurations with enough to spare for future builds. This PSU is not only future proof but guaranteed to last.

Majesty’s technology expertise coupled with ABS Gaming Lab’s strict adherence to product performance, quality and usability makes this power supply a high performance, high reliability guarantee.

Moving on let’s see what we can expect when a user purchases the ABS Majesty 1100W power supply in retail in terms of documentation, accessories, cable count, rail layout, output characteristics, and general build quality.
